This one was a little too easy today... I don't even need an introduction.
Fox News
Yes, that's right. The entire channel seems to be having a major meltdown. They're usually bad, but the last 24 hours seems to have reached a new low.
Yesterday on the Noise, dingbat Gretchen Carlson started propagating the talking point, when she was interviewed Obama's press secretary, Robert Gibbs:
Gibbs: Well, look, there are not plans to do something broad like that. The president has always believed that shareholders in a company ought to have a nonbinding say on the CEO pay of somebody in a company. I think that's a common sense rule and regulation that allows and empowers shareholders to have a say in what makes sense.
Now, on most networks, that would be the end of that talking point. But not at The Noise. Later in the day, moron Neil Cavuto and radio gasbag Mark Levin kept alive the talking point, and even expanded upon it a little. (video courtesy Media Matters)
Unbelievable, isn't it?
No one in the Obama Administration has even suggested knocking down bonuses for companies not taking billions of tax dollars in bailout money. Even the ill-conceived tax plan put forth by Congress (and voted on by a considerable number of Republicans, by the way) only considered taxing bonuses of those making more than $250,000, and ONLY on those companies getting TARP money. Therefore, they're making it up. It's a LIE, people. It's a talking point about something that no one has EVER proposed, or has any plans to propose.
But it gets better.
This morning, the very same Gretchen Carlson, who was told BY THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION that nothing was in the works, repeated the same bullshit again, anyway (video courtesy Media Matters)
There are so many other things to note, of course... Cavuto and Bret Baier once again claimed the Employee Free Choice Act would eliminate the secret ballot in union elections, which both have been told is an absolute falsehood many times in the past. Then there's the Fox Business Channel reporter, who likened the Congressional Bonus Tax plan to sexual assault. Now, we don't like that plan, either, but for Chrissakes, rape is a little more serious than being taxed a little too much...
But the continual talking point parade is enough to make
